Race analysis, favourites, and predictions for Maryland Cycling Classic 2025
After last year’s cancellation due to the tragic collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, the Maryland Cycling Classic returns in 2025 with renewed energy to celebrate its third edition. Part of the UCI ProSeries calendar, the second tier of world cycling, the race is confirmed as the highest-level event held in the United States, a clear reflection of the commitment of the city of Baltimore and the state of Maryland to the sport.
Course
The race takes place on a 28.5 km urban circuit, which riders must complete six times, totaling 172 km with 1,900 meters of elevation gain. The main challenge of the circuit is the Greater Roland Park climb (1 km at 4.7%).
Favorites
Although the start list does not include the biggest stars of world cycling, it does feature strong riders such as Mattias Skjelmose (800), Brandon McNulty (800), Neilson Powless (400), Jonas Abrahamsen (600), Thibau Nys (600), Mauro Schmid (400), Tobias Halland Johannessen (600), Quinn Simmons (400), Riley Sheehan (200) and Marco Brenner (200), to name a few.
