Race analysis, favourites, and predictions for Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain 2024

Since 2014, the Tour of Britain has been organized by the company SweetSpot, but financial difficulties led the company to go into liquidation in January of this year, and the race was suspended from the calendar. However, a month later, British Cycling, the British cycling federation, announced that it would take responsibility for organizing both the Tour of Britain and the Tour of Britain Women, and both races were eventually included in the UCI calendar again. Thus, with this new momentum, sponsorship from Lloyds Bank was secured, and the race is more alive than ever.

Route

The British tour consists of six stages running from north to south of the country, starting in Scotland and ending on the east coast of England. The first three stages feature undulating profiles with positive elevations between 1800 and 2200 meters, and it is likely that the general classification will be decided on one of these days, as the last three stages are flat and will likely end in a sprint.

Favorites

The race has managed to attract several top-level names, with notable mentions including Remco Evenepoel (1200), Thomas Pidcock (800), Matej Mohorič (600), and Julian Alaphilippe (600). Other riders who could could perform well in the race are Ethan Hayter (600), Ethan Vernon (600), Stephen Williams (400), Wout Poels (600), Jonas Abrahamsen (600), or Joseph Blackmore (200), among others.
